In the second of our inaugural series of Old Raven reunion dinners we invited back to the school as many of those as we could contact who left Danes Hill between 1980 and 1990. A glance at the photos will show one marked difference from the previous year’s dinner - the presence of GIRLS.
A lively crowd of past pupils and staff enjoyed a convivial evening of good food, wine and banter. We were treated to a typically wry and insightful peroration from warm-up man Mr Willie Murdock before the feature act of the evening, as erstwhile Deputy Mr Simon Mole held the house spellbound with a bravura speech, the watchword of which ‘and that reminds me…’ was pretty much the leitmotif of the evening.
Ostensibly a black tie affair - and some of the gentlemen and ladies looked very fine indeed in their finery - one or two of the confraternity sported their obviously long-cherished school ties, which was touching to see.
Overall another very enjoyable evening!
