World Book Day March 2010
World Book Day March 2010
8th March, 2010
This year, Danes Hill World Book Day celebrations were better than ever! The week kicked off to a flying start witha visit to Lower School from illustrator and author Ian Beck. Ian gave a fantastic talk about his stories and drawings as well as reading from his books. Staff were also very impressed to learn that he did the artwork for the Elton John album, 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road'! On Wednesday the Upper School were visited by author Bernard Ashley, author of over 40 books as well as writing screenplays for the BBC. Bernard spoke about his books and the writing process, particularly those books set during wartime, which the children found fascinating. Finally, on World Book Day itself, the Middle School spent the morning with chris Powling, author and master storyteller, who got all the children's imagination going! The pupils and staff also spent the day dressed as their favourite book character. A fantastic day was had by all! Thank you for all the support of the Danes Hill parents for making the day so memorable. Please view the Events Gallery for more photos.
