Danes Hill School scores top marks in recent inspection
"At Danes Hill, the rich educational experience enables pupils of all abilities and interests to find success”, according to a recent inspection report by the Independent Schools Inspectorate. The inspection team found much to praise in all areas of the school but was particularly impressed by the facilities of the school, the breadth of education on offer to the children and – in particular – the outstanding social development of the pupils.
The Headmaster, Willie Murdock, says
“Yes, at Danes Hill we do offer state of the art teaching and learning facilities, as well as a diversity of curriculum that is second to none, However, ultimately, the real strength of the school is quite simply the children and this emerged most strongly during the inspection. I was very proud of all of them!”
Charities Day this year at Danes Hill School was a huge success. Over £3600 was raised with an enormous range of exciting stalls run by the children, including included apple bobbing, guess the name of the teddy, number of sweet in a jar, nail painting and lots of fantastic things to eat and drink. The Year 4s had the novel idea of filling jam-jars with assorted sweets and selling them for 50p each - over 100 were sold! The nominated charities being supported by the school is this term are DownsEd and the Haiti Earthquake Appeal. During the morning the children took part in a ‘bounce-a-thon’. Two huge bouncy castles were inflated in the school hall and each child from Year 2 – 8 bounced for a minute. The record number of bounces was recorded by Kate Paton in Year 8, who completed a staggering 164 in one minute!! Each child was invited to obtain sponsorship by family and friends in advance of the event and, although not all contributions have yet been received, we are hoping to raise another £3000.
Well done to all the children and parents at Danes Hill School for their generosity and support.
