Eco Warriors Ahoy
Eco Warriors Ahoy
29th January, 2008
On Tuesday 29 January the first full meeting was held of the brand new Danes Hill Eco Committee. The purpose is to encourage the school to become more eco aware, and things are already well under way with a number of exciting on-site schemes, including paper, shoe and clothes recycling. This term the committee has already visited a landfill site to get some idea of the scale of the problem, and Year 8 pupils are visiting a waste recycling centre. Members of the committee include pupils from Years 2 to 8 and repesentative staff from different areas of the school, as well as Jan Crouch of Elmbridge Borough Council, Sarah Ottaway from SITA, to advise on the minimisation of waste, and Danes Hill governor Dr Heather Patel. During the meeting eight Year 8 pupils gave excellent presentations on a range of eco issues, including biodiversity, healthy living, litter and transport. Watch out 4x4s, the Eco Committee is on your tail!
