40 boys and girls from Years 6, 7 and 8 (and one from Reception) spent the weekend of 26/27 April in Normandy tracing the course of Operation Overlord, the allied invasion begun on 6th June 1944. In glorious sunshine they marvelled at the Mulberry, gazed at the guns and concrete emplacements, and were genuinely stunned by the scale and scope of the whole operation.
Their visits to the vast and beautifully tended American and British war cemeteries brought home to them the enormous cost involved. There was,
however, also time for a little retail therapy and the odd ice cream!
