1st XV Rugby Tour to Ireland

1st XV Rugby Tour to Ireland

1st October, 2007

During the autumn half term, 21 senior Rugby players toured the South of Ireland. The team landed in Dublin to face a historically strong Willow Park School, which has produced a large number of Ireland Rugby stars including the current captain, Brian O’Driscoll. After a strong and ferocious battle, Danes Hill narrowly lost an entertaining 31-24 match. The group then travelled across the country to the west coast town of Galway to face Colaiste Iognaid School. The squad were greeted with traditional Irish wet weather but, thankfully, the rain abated to allow Danes Hill to play a free flowing match in which they dominated with a convincing 42-0 victory. Limerick was the last venue for a match against St Minchin’s College, the Munster Rugby School Academy. A ‘never say die’ attitude by the Danes Hill boys resulted in a close encounter with a 10-17 loss. The tour was greatly enjoyed by all the players, staff and parents and congratulations are due to all the boys who played with such great heart.
