Pastoral Care

Miss Jackie Taylor, Head of Pastoral Care

The pastoral care and emotional welfare of pupils is of paramount importance to the school. A comprehensive staffing structure exists to support pupils emotional development throughout the school, and Heads of Section, Heads of Year, Form Teachers and Tutors all oversee the welfare and social and emotional development of their charges on a daily basis.

it is my responsibility to co-ordinate all aspects of the schools pastoral care programme.

Bullying

Under no circumstances is bullying or intimidating behaviour acceptable, either on the part of children or by any adult in the school. It is the responsibility of the entire community to eradicate all forms of bullying.

Parents are asked to follow the procedures below if they suspect their child is bullying others or is a victim of bullying:

  • Stay calm
  • Contact the school. Make an appointment to speak to the Head of Section or Head of Pastoral Care, who will then inform your childs Form Teacher or Tutor
  • Remember there are two sides to every story
  • Trust that the school has the experience and will follow the guidelines for dealing with incidents of this nature
  • Be reassured that all such incidents are followed up and the situation reassessed after a short period of time. You will be kept informed of sanctions and progress
  • Work with the school. Parent-teacher cooperation is crucial to the effectiveness of our anti-bullying policy and the welfare of all our children

A full version of the school's policy on bullying is available on request from the Cottage.
