This Year's Charities
This school year (September 2007 to July 2008) we will be concentrating our fundraising efforts on the following four charities:
Cherry Trees
CHICKS
The Children’s trust
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
Cherry Trees
Cherry Trees is based near Guildford and is a very special place which provides short-term respite care in a home-style environment, with high quality professional support, who have a learning and/or a physical disability.
CHICKS - Country Holidays for Inner City Kids
CHICKS provides free respite breaks to disadvantaged children from all over the UK. Each year hundreds of children spend a week at a retreat where they will feel cared for, and enjoy the kind of fun that most take for granted, and all children deserve.
The Children's Trust
Based in Tadworth, Surrey, the Children’s Trust aims to give children with disabilities - some as a result of brain injuries caused by road accidents - a better quality of life. Currently the Trust is fundraising for a new National Rehabilitation Centre, alongside the annual £4 million it needs to keep afloat - and it receives no government funding!
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
The JDRF is looking to find a cure for type 1 (juvenile) diabetes. The Foundation is lead and supported by parents of children with the condition, and this includes some families within the Danes Hill community.
